Camping at South Fork

Last weekend we had our first camping trip of the year, and Trevor's first time in a tent. We went up to the South Fork campground, just north of Silverthorn and near the Henderson Mill. We drove up Friday morning and set up camp. Just as we got the tent set up we had a little rainstorm and piled in the tent for about a half hour, then it let up. The rest of the day was spent enjoying the outdoors. The kids have a blast and have decided they love camping. We cooked grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner then had a big fire and roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. We all piled in the tent and the kids (except for Trevor) slept soundly through the night. At about midnight there was a torrential rainstorm and the tent held up well. One of my favorite sounds is the sound of rain on a tent. The next morning we made pancakes for breakfast and went on some very short hikes. With rain threatening we decided to break camp and came home at about noon. It was a great trip and the kids are already asking when we're going again.

The family shot

They love climbing trees

The campfire was another big hit. Much of the night was spent throwing sticks into the fire.

Trevor might have had the most fun of all

He liked to climb the "little trees"

Checkers is now one of the preferred games and Lance even learned how to play a little chess.
