Boo at the Zoo

Last weekend we went to Boo at the Zoo at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.

There were Stormtroopers throughout the zoo, but our little Stormtrooper didn't quite warm up to them.

The train is always a big hit.

Pub 'n Putt

Today we had the first neighborhood Pub 'n Putt, where everyone made a putt-putt hole in their yard, as well as drinks and snacks, and we had a round of golf on our street. The kids had a blast and it appears it will now be a yearly tradition. It ended off with a party and barbecue and it made for some good neighborhood bonding.

Greer 2010

We had another fantastic trip to Greer this year. We stayed two week this year - the first week with the entire McAdams clan and the second week with Lindsey, Shawn and my parents.

The McAdams Family

This was the first time the entire McAdams clan has been together in about five years. Everyone wanted to get together before Megan and Brett left on their missions, and who knows when the next reunion will be.

Hiking up Hall Creek

The Nature Trail

Sarah is king of the mountain

The cable car has seen better days and was a bit sketchy this year. We had to climb up a rope to get to the platform and the chair seems to be falling apart. After a few rides we decided it was too unsafe and we held off for the rest of the trip.

Our annual puzzle tradition continued with a tough one this year.

Russell renewed his love of tetherball at the Phares with Grandpa Fred

Rachel caught her first fish and Lance and Russel had extremely close calls. The Spiderman and Batman fishing poles couldn't quite hold the big ones, although Rachel caught a nice size Rainbow Trout with her princess pole.

She wasn't too excited about the concept of cathching a fish, but her curiosity made her overcome the original shock.

Lance thought it was great!

We had A LOT of kids!!!

There was also the traditional post-hiking ice cream stop in Greer

I did several mountain bike rides

Black river at the end of a ride

More hiking - this time at Sheep's Crossing

One day I rode the lift at Sunrise for some downhill biking - I think I was the only one on the mountain without full body armor and a downhill bike. It was a little above my ability, but despite a few cuts and bruises I had a good time.

Big Russ brought a horse swing and the kids were in heaven. (almost literally)

The puzzle progressed slowly and we didn't think there was any way we were going to finish this year.

Horseshoes were another new discovery this year.

There were multiple fishing trips and despite only landing one fish the kids loved it.

One of the highlights of the trip was being able to bless Trevor at the cabin. We had all of Melanie's family and my parents and Lindsey's family. It was a beautiful spiritual experience.

The red swing was maybe the biggest hit and we went almost daily. Hard to believe it's still going strong after about four decades.

We had a family talent show and Lance gave an encore performance of Do a Deer on the xylophone.

Rachel tried hard to stay up late so as not to miss anything. Hmm, I wonder where she gets that? Any ideas Grammy Anne?

We ended up pulling an extremely late night near the end of the trip and finished the puzzle. No missing pieces!!! It was another great trip and left us wanting to go back again and again.
